Went back. MRI is normal. Still no reason detected or any change good or ill with kid's eye, so the ophthalmologist's next step: surgery. This issue is less than 6 months old, ish, but not by much, and the sooner one can correct, the better. It's a fast day surgery.  Details below the cut, but not gory, but still involve thinking about surgery...
Will involve manipulating the ocular area to get at the muscles that are not doing their job to hold his eye in the right location. They'll fix that and boom, done. Aside from taking it easy, the fix happens when he wakes up, not after weeks/months. Only internal nips/sutures, none outside. He'll have a red eye for a while and not be allowed to go swimming for 1-2 weeks. The surgery will take less time than the MRI did. Hokay. We can do this. It's scheduled to be between the move and the kid going to see grandma for a week. It's pretty much perfect. So, all will be well come the end of July.

This seems like the right option, then. Fingers crossed for kid's surgery - watching them having something like this done is so hard. Here's hoping that kid sees it as an adventure. Do they get to wear an eye patch for a couple of days, too? I can certainly see doing something fun with that. Ooooh - if they get one of those metal mesh eye patches, that can be repurposed for an Arisia costume...

(Trying to see more fun up sides)

I imagine that just having an answer on the no-tragedy, no-calamity side is a relief. Here's hoping he continues to deal reasonably well with the procedures. And if you want to go out for a "thank gods THAT's over" drink afterward I'd be happy to treat you.

And that includes either joining for drinks, offering a second opportunity for someone to buy you a drink or both.

As an aside, my Mom had similar surgery when she was a child. Never remembered the procedure, only the results. Which she was very glad of.

Glad to hear that there seems a viable option. Healing thoughts and support for you all.
