Penance for neglect :

in the form of torturous dental experience and 2 trips back, one not bad- a normal cavity to fill and the other a root canal, which sounds slightly horrifying and is expensive even with my non-insurance dental discount fun (tm).
So, to sum up, our heroine is pissed as hell at herself for neglecting her teeth for too long, but is very cognizant of it not being the end of the world and yes it could be much much worse.
Still. OW. And no really: oooow.

I went through that in fall 2004. Only mine involved eight cavities, a root canal, a crown, and decent dental insurance. Still, ouch. I sympathize.

I go every six months and still needed a root canal in March(cracked tooth). I was very fortunate and shocked to not have any physical pain afterward. It's the $2000 debt to the dentist that hurts me the most. At least he's letting me pay him back in small chunks so I don't have to put it on a credit card.

Sorry yours hurts for real. Did you get any good drugs at least??

Sympathies, having gone through this myself relatively recently.

I had a root canal about 6 years ago, and honestly, the process wasn't nearly as bad as the reputation would have you believe.

Unfortunately, the crown fell out last week and I have to get it replaced -- and my insurance says they won't pay for it because it's less than 10 years old (even though I paid for it out of pocket the first time). Bah.
