Observations on the 1st summer day of the year

I rode my motorcycle all the way in to Park Street today. Normally I stick to Alewife, but when one is going to AllsBrighton in the evening, it makes less than no sense to follow the usual path. Despite leaving the house (the first time) 10 minutes later, and 2 false starts, I showed up exactly on time. Yarrrr! The trip in was significantly less stressful than I expected on top of that.

Observation 1: stay to the far left lane when coming down to the bottom of the rt 2 hill by Alewife. It may stop first, but it starts up faster while the other 2 lanes jockey to be in the same place at the same time. There's usually enough time to slide to the exit lane for Alewife. I went past towards Fresh Pond, but still- good to know.

Observation 2: tank bags ROCK. It turns out that my back door is metal and it'll stay to that and my filing cabinet at work with no problem. I adore not having to have a backpack while I ride. We like having happy shoulders, Precious.

Observation 3: it costs more to get a key made than to get a packet of etamame. Also, etamame might be tasty, but it fails to kill the hungry feeling. It's the world's perfect appetizer.

Sadly, I cannot use magnetic tank bags, for although they will stick to your backdoor and any file cabinet, they will not stick to my bike, which contains too much fiberglass™. But go you for riding to work!

*nod*- that is too bad. But you also have a fair bit o' room on your bike for luggage-like objects. In fact, I may inherit a tank bag from someone who has the same scenario as you do. (I win!)
