Ok. Dubleyou-Tee-Eff, Man? My 2 year old printer at work refuses to see ink. It's there. It's new. I'm waiting for Epson to email me back with an answer. I have been meaning to pick up ink for our printer at home. I do so. Made very sure I was buying the right one. I go home. I install the cartridge. I close the lid. The carriage that holds the ink pods SLAAAAAMS into the wrong side of the machine where it ought never go. Uh...?! Then it does it again. And again. [profile] purple_terror comes home and attempts to fiddle with it. The printer takes a bite out of his hand. It draws blood. It continues to slam into the far side of the inside of the printer until it finally succeeds in this suicide attempt and a part falls off. I'm exceptionally grateful it didn't take us with it. I think the printer will not be revived. It was a free printer, so it's fulfilled its usefulness, but now I have a 30 dollar pod of ink that I feel a need to use and nothing to put into it. Honestly, though, I'm afraid to try again today. Or even this week. Methinks I'll look on Craigslist to find a printer that goes with a Lexmark 70 black pod. Or, if anyone needs a pod of said ink, I'll sell it to you. Um.... May I have a do-over? 'Kthnxbye.

I've actually had a similar experience with 2 Epson printers, which is a key reason why I switched to my HP DesignJet, which I LOVE. Sorry to hear K's hand got hurt.

Honey, I was a religion major in college and I am pretty nearly certain that printers are in fact the work of the DEVIL!

However, HP and NEC printers seem to have come to Jesus and don't seem to be deliberately diabolic in the same way other printers are...

Sadly, printers are the razors-sold-to-sell-blades (ink cartridges) of the PC industry. They all suck, more or less. This used to be because they could charge out the ass for toner cartridges. Then people like Lexmark came along and reverse-engineered the chips and spoiled the printer guys' parties. So now toner is cheap, too, and printers all suck ass.
