Alex and Kitty Taylor
Those are the names of my parents' alter egos.
They're getting a black pug and my dad just bought a Z3 on Ebay.
"Alex's" new car"
My mother claims that these major derivations in behavior is in fact a good thing and will be the guide I can use when I want to reinvent myself when I'm middle-aged.
I should have seen it coming long ago when my father started in on hawaiian shirts, drinking Starbucks frilly coffee drinks, and donning the metaphorical plaid blazer to work.
My being horrified is really just a front. I'm glad that they're enjoying themselves- I just know that there's no way in hell their 30-something selves would recognise their 50-something selves.
Pity that Dad just visited. I want to check out that car and see how it handles [big grin]

I think my parents were relatively cool even when growing up- I didn't suffer quite the pangs of embarrassment that many of my peers did. I just wish that mom would have lightened up on the food restrictions sooner. It wasn't til they hosted exchange students that soda and other junky food was a more regular thing in the cupboards- in other words, after I was long gone.
