I went camping this weekend. Most might think I'm insane :)
It was pretty good. Cast of Characters including [livejournal.com profile] quiet_elegance, [livejournal.com profile] purple_terror, and Julz. The event was put together by J's friend(s), so I really didn't know anyone outside of DMH+ so very much. But, met lots of cool people. We went swimming at the nearby lake, grilled food over the fire, drank heavily, socalized more, passed out and woke up to find that our air mattress had lost most of its air overnight. How does this happen so damned often? Ah well better than sleeping on the ground, proper. The rain in the night meant everything was sorta damp. That's one of the things I dislike most about the whole camping thing.
It threatened to rain more Sunday morning, did briefly and lightly, but I'd already helped pack our stuff, so I was ready to leave at a moment's notice. P_t's tent didn't behave when returning to a folded-up state, so he was pretty pissed (poor sweetie- it's a frickin' cool tent!) We took off after having a semi-breakfast by 10-something, had icky McD's for lunch at 2, collapsed at home, and managed to get the grocery shopping done by 6.

We had very hummy LHOP pizza (garlic/grilled chicken and garlic/ tomato), watched Lola Rennt (again!!:)-- I remember more of my German than I give myself credit for normally... but the subtitles are still very necessary) and I'd say it was a perfect evening to finish off the weekend.

A quieter evening than expected will be welcome, although I need to figure when I'll be visiting some folk who want visiting.

Oh, and it took me FOREVER to finish reading Friday evening-Monday Morning on LJ. I'll be happy when we have DSL again at home.

[edit]
The bicycle ride from Lex. to Alewife was fantastic- I made the choice to try to greet ("good morning") the folks I was zooming by (usually on foot) and was glad to be a bit more - for lack of a better word- neighborly than the average user of the bikepath.
