disconcerting

I woke up by myself and to the sound of children shouting outside my window with the sun filtering in through a curtain made by my mother (it's really cool)...

and given the position of the bed, the noise of the children, the light coming in from that direction, it took me several seconds before I determined I was not at my mother's house but at my own.
