Ok, today the server decided to barf. It's better now, but the morning was entirely taken up with non-techno activities. I guess it's really for the best. It has forced me to finish that pesky last 10% of a project that is so damned tedious. It always is. I much rather do the broad, sweeping bits and lose interest almost immediately when I have to deal with the inevitable "misc" shite.
'Tween the bad techno karma, the gray day, and my hormones, I'm failing to be amused. Oh- the fact that quiet_elegance's job is starting to get more flaky than not is also frustrating to witness. He deserves to be able to not have to wonder or worry if there'll be enough hours for the week or if they'll actually pay him on time. With any sort of luck, he'll connect with friend's friend who is a union carpenter. The idea of union work at this uninformed time seems like a solid and secure solution. Meh. I want to read my book (rereading Beekeeper's Apprentice) and have tea and pastries til I go into a sugar coma.
Since I mention books... While I was in Ohio, I reread A Grave Talent, another mystery series by Laurie R. King and I am marveling at how very different the former feels incomparison to the latter, although both feature uncompromisingly talented and intelligent main female characters. Yay, good books. I actually bought a copy of Beekeeper; previously I favored borrowing from the library. I suspect I'll get all from both series in paperback within the next few months.
Last night's evening out with Caulay was quite fun. Dinner was tasty (we agreed Macaroni grill ain't the gray mare she used to be) and the movie (Mr. and Mrs. Smith) entertaining and surpassed my moderate expectations. I even got home in time to watch another episode of SG1.
edit And slashdot reports Firefly will be picked up by the SciFi Channel, added to the Friday lineup and aired in the correct order. This doesn't mean they can kill their contract with the evil masters at Fox and start more new seasons for the required five years, but hey! It means that there will be more folk who will see the TV show before the movie, which is critical for preferred viewing pleasure of said movie. This puts my mood in a much closer balance- so less gloomy for me *grin*
