Happy Birthday to [profile] quiet_elegance. Ok, he's actually been 32 for 6 months, but in the tradition of my dad, he celebrates in a month that isn't overrun by cold weather and bullshit consumerism.

My cousin, Jody*, is having a family gathering in honor of her marriage at her mom's September 7-9. I had been planning on going on a work/sabbatical-related trip on the 10-12 to Milwaukee, so my current plan is to mesh it so I don't have to bounce around more than I need to.
EDIT: Jody says that Ulises returned permanently on May 10 and that all is on the upswing now. He'll be able to naturalize in 3 years and is doing all things one must do in the meantime to facilitate all that and full time work options. She's also completed her first year of law school in--- surprise surprise--- immigration law. Apparently that is also going well.

*the one who got married all of a sudden at this time last year when her now-husband was deported - No news on progress on this at this point, but theoretically returning to this side of the border by then

The tests are back after last week's surgery. Her lymph nodes were entirely clean of disease, so this looks like a win for the good guys. The doctor visit today included removing the post surgery paraphenalia of uckiness (that is a technical term). Needless to say: happiness all around.
