So, tra-la-la, headed home on the 8:30 bus- all's well in the world- no rain leaving Davis, getting on the bus, for most of the ride, then I look up from my very engrossing book (Subtle Knife by Philip Pullman- a re-read) about 2 min. from my house. Downpour. Holy crap. I had even called home before I left to see if had started raining there yet- no, it wasn't.
However!! I called home to find out that my knight in shining umbrella ([profile] quiet_elegance) was braving the weather and came out to rescue me. I'm glad I knew that, as I only had to sprint from the bus stop to the bike path underpass (hm. a block?) . Q_E arrived within the minute. Given my bag was water absorbent and I'd just gone to get new books that very day... whew. Those darlings would have been much worse off without intervention. As it was, one spent the night under 20 heavy books to straighten out the wavy edges. Yay that it pretty much worked.

In completely other unrelated news, I just purchased another copy of Firefly. It was 17 bucks through Amazon. I'd just given my previous extra copy to [personal profile] lifecollage who'd managed to go all these years in close proximity to me without having her own copy. If anyone out there knows of a worthy soul who's still surviving without this epic masterpiece (see what I'm doing here? Going over the top for comedic effect? Yeah, I thought you'd note that and smirk a bit at the fan girl. Thanks for your support) let me know.

In the meantime, I must pack up and brave the traffic on yon motor bike. Think non-rain thoughts for me.
