Some months ago, Robin, [profile] purple_terror , and I tried out a new chocolate ice cream recipe. Much of it was sacrificed to the fresh fruit we were dipping into it while decanting it after it was done cooking. Much to our frustration, it almost killed the ice cream maker, then came out resembling concrete. Very tasty and rich concrete.

So this time when I gave it a shot, I thought perhaps I'd just leave it in its custardy non-frozen form. In the interim between putting it in the fridge to cool and an hour ago, I almost changed my mind. After all, I'd put the bowl into the freezer. Well, I had to test it. For science, of course. Woah. It's not like ice cream mix, it's not quite like pudding or custard. It's sort of like gelled brownie mix or fudge. 2 moderate spoonfuls and I was all set. I have two quarts of it. Yeah, I think I'm gloating.

I also think I need some other fruits for this, and possibly some whipped cream. Ok, now I'm rubbing it in.
