... shouldn't be up particularly since I can't quite control my fingers to type yet. :/
Last thing first- Repo! The Genetic Rock Opera--- I thought when I heard about it a while ago that it had the makings for a cult classic, but after last night's experience I know this will be the case. First, forewarning: the site has flash/music, but it's theirs- imdb will also offer you more info as to what it's all about.
I decided to dress up as gothily as possible.
woodwardiocom took pictures, so hopefully he'll give them to me soon and I'll share. If they're worthy. Usually when I go to the Coolidge, it's for midnight showings of Serenity. There were a lot of similarities- other folks dressed up- defijnitely not numbering as one of the hard-cores- waiting in line- seeing familiar faces- the air of excitement and anticipation... yeah. Unlike Serenity, which was allowed to show in more than something like 6 cities for its opening weekend by the way, we had the pleasure of the co-creators (writer and director: a guy you've nevere heard of I expect and the guy who did the Saw movies, respectively) wandering around up and down the line, introducing the show, then taking Q&A after before signing for anyone willing to stand in line. Ok- that last bit did happen for the first Serenity preview. Part of the difference I think is that I wasn't remotely so fannish over this as Serenity.
Did I like the movie? Yes! I'm looking forward to it coming out on DVD so I can have a copy. I think a viewing party will be necessary. My guests almost certainly will be better behaved than this audience, who had from the creators carte blanche to MSTK thoughout. Some took this to heart. However only some of them were funny. One guy was just... irritating. If there's another chance to go see this, I would strongly urge you to go see it. Anthony Stewart Head siniging. Sarah Brightman! The Sarah Brightman. Graverobber is also the writer, whose creepy but isn't that the point? So on and so forth. Yes, lots of blood, but in this format didn't really bother me except for one moment, but we were supposed to go "Ew!!"
If nothing else, the soundtrack is available- the songs kick ass. I started listening to it earlier this week and no surprise several pieces stay in one's head for a while.
Ok. That's the bulk of what I wanted to write. I was glad to see friends at a birthday party last night, as well. Birthday girl's appreciation of my purple gothiness was gratifying. Friday night: dinner at Kelly's Roast Beef then ninja (and pirate) gaming!
