New York so far
Most visits to New York feel very rushed, but with two days on my own, mostly unstructured- it's been what I've needed. The highlight of yesterday was visiting with
pisicutsa . There was very inexpensive sushi that was above average in quality, a lot of talking and successful subway navigation. I was reminded, though, that my default blue jeans aren't really comfy and haven't been in a while. Which meant today was shopping day. My visit to Century 21 in the financial district was insanely chaotic, but I found some good pieces, particularly the 2 skirts, which require in-person viewing or at least a picture. This evening's fun was pizza and beer with cousins, who are amiable and chatty. We never spent much time together growing up, so it can feel a little awkward, but baseline interactions are good.
In the inbetween times I've been helping my host enter her books into LibraryThing. She wanted to do something with it but couldn't decide if she wanted to really get rid of stuff, or what. She started an excel spreadsheet, but I'm not entirely certain how helpful that would be in the long run. Putting them in the LibraryThing format at least allows for a fast, mostly painless record to get tallied up. I'd not used it much since I did the lionshare of my home library cataloging 2 summers ago. They've added some nifty features since then, or at least revamped to make it easier to use.
