WGA Members Vote To End Strike

The membership of the Writers Guild of America, West (WGAW) and the Writers Guild of America, East (WGAE) today voted overwhelmingly in favor of lifting the restraining order and ending their 100-day strike that began on Nov. 5. 3,775 writers turned out in Los Angeles and New York to cast ballots or fax in proxies, with 92.5% voting in favor of ending the work stoppage.

WGAW and WGAE members will next vote to ratify the tentative three-year contract with the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers. The membership ratification vote will be conducted by mail and also at membership meetings on February 25, 2008.

Yeah, there was little doubt they'd ratify. Next question is how the studios will react to this, followed immediately by the SAG negotiations in ?May?

This ain't over by a long shot but at least we can breathe a bit easier now.

I will feel MUCH better after the contract is signed, which it isn't yet, but obviously should soon. I'll feel better after I hear from the cautious/uberprincipled like Joss. But yes, it's not all the way over by a lot. I'm hoping that the actors won't get such a rough time, although that would be a much more public strike if it came to that. "The pretties we recognise aren't working, zomg!!" sort of thing.

apparently there are some shows that are ending because of the strike, maybe Joss can bring back firefly in that wake?

I'll be happy if they can keep Dollhouse in the mix. ... and according to the latest, they went back to work on Tuesday- ROCK!

Resurrecting Firefly? Yeah, it'd be great, but from the scuttlebutt I've heard from The Man and those near The Man, it seems unlikely that they'd be able to bring it back to the small screen. Serenity II seems a better shot.

ah well... I know nothing of Dollverse (having no cable) But I keep seeing Firefly actors all over Lost, and it amuses me to no end.. :-)
