Ok.
It's that time of year when it's checkup time again....
And the Nurse Practitioner whom I've seen for a while is going on maternity leave next week.

I've NEVER met my "real" doctor. Seeing her requires more than 6 weeks in advance. Heaven forfend I actually get sick.

I can understand a week or 2 wait for an annual, but the one doctor I don't have has a wait til December. Mine is September. That sucks. Sorry. Hain't no reason for that, other than their bloody understaffed, and at this point, I'm MORE than happy to find some other office that can accomodate me in a more reasonable time-frame.
....
Or have I slept through the "revolution" and this is just the way it is??? If it is, can I go to sleep until it goes back to something a little more humane?!

With that rant out, does anyone have any recommendations for a new doc or doc equivallent in the general downtown Boston or Cambridge or even Arlington area? I want to be able to get there by T from work, since it's usually checkups or the like rather than illness that causes me to go, so I'm keen on going somewhere that I can get to from work by public transportation.

Nancy Norman, also at the Fenway (http://fenwayhealth.com/) is my PCP (although I haven't seen her in a while -- should schedule a checkup), and she's great. (She didn't bat an eyelash a few years ago when she heard I was dating a married couple, f'rinstance.)

Dr. Ricardo Wellisch at Reservoir Medical Associates, a couple blocks up Concord Ave towards Belmont. Really nice guy, poly-friendly and makes sure to actually see you. Many of the local elboid crowd go to him. 617-661-4600.

I can recommend Davis Sq Family Health for general courtesy and ease of getting appointments. My doctor is Roy Shelton-Berkowitz. I haven't had a physical there yet. It's in the little plaza behind starbucks, so easy to get to on the red line. My gynecologist is also right next door.

Now you know one of the questions to ask when you call an office to see if they're accepting new patients: What is the usual wait for an appointment with an actual doctor?
