mizarchivistOk. I'm leaving for the airport in about 6 hours for my reunion. Man. I shoulda gone ahead and taken an earlier flight and gotten it over with. Waiting around all day is going to drive me crazier.
I determined yesterday that I really didn't have an appropriate shirt to go with the outfit I had mostly picked out, so went shopping after work
I went to Simmons for the intern fair (3rd they've had) and talked to several students, mostly those who aren't in an archives class yet or in the intro class... I guess once you get through 438 you have enough confidence not to need to go look at the sampling of institutions that are offering internships. Wankers. -> (when come back, bring pie--- sorry- one of those word association moments)
So, talked to folks about what I had to offer. Now, my library has almost *no* sex appeal. The "sexy" internships are at the academic places mostly: harvard, mit, tufts, northeastern.. oh. Probably the JFK museum is popular, too.
I did get to spend some really good time w/ former intern Ginger, whose now employed nearby. And just last fall, she was my student! They grow up so fast these days [extra irony: she's older than I am]
Now, I'm trying hard not to spend too much money on clothes, so went to Marshalls, then H&M and finally TJ Maxx- first two were a complete failure. TJ Maxx wasn't much better, but it was the last place I was willing to go, so forced myself to find a purple silk shirt with a flower pattern. It's sorta baby-doll styled in that it's not fitted at the waist as I'd prefer, but the material keeps it from making me look like I'm hiding belly bulges of whatever nature. It'll do.
So, I go home and start packing things up. I bought wicked cheap luggage many months ago, and decided I'd take one for this trip instead of the old backpack or courier bag. So, in packing I determined (with the help of the esteemed Milknut) I have no decent shirts. Ok. That's an exaggeration. However, I do have a major deficiency in shirtage. I'm working on reducing the "ragamuffin" look that goes with the clothing I get from my friends as hand-me-downs. For the most part, they tend to be a little too big, so ragamuffin. Anyway... I couldn't find a decent black shirt. Not even a t-shirt. Plenty of white button down, but overall nothing that works with the new light purple pants or skirt. GR! I hope I have some time to go shopping with Mom this weekend.
Now I have 5.6 hours before I can leave. Does anyone want to place bets on me being productive today? BTW: Fearless Leader's out today if that has any effect on your betting.

As to the bets on your productivity, I was pretty much going with "None" before you mentioned your FL was out for the day.

Ok so this shopping thing needs to STOP. I'm all for supporting you in your shopping needs, but I gotta lay off! I went into Marshall's this morning to find a pashmina (to no avail) for tomorrow, and walked away with 2 very pretty pairs of shoes (1 boots, 1 shoe shoes)...
Someone needs to take my credit cards away.
