No love for public transit this week
For the past two work days, the first bus out of Lexington hasn't shown up*. Waiting for half an hour and being a full hour late in is mind-bendingly irritating.
I've now talked to one person at Alewife in customer service and another over the phone. I've signed up for the email alerts for my bus for mornings, so technically speaking I've done everything I could to be prepared. At least the woman on the phone admitted my bus was having issues. The guy at Alewife's relayed message from the bus HQ was stonewall-ish and blatantly untrue.
If this is a new pattern, I will be PISSED. Ok, more pissed than I am now, which is remarkably not now that I've successfully talked to someone, taken out my aggressions on the elliptical machine (because dammit, after all that waiting, I was going to the effing gym) , and had breakfast.
* On Friday, I went early to mail packages, which was quick., so I was out there early. The bus shows up around 6:20 and I was out there at 6:15. Left after it was about 9 minutes late with the theory that I had missed my window of opportunity and going to the gym now would mean a very short workout.
Today I was not going back home. The walk up was - as usual- terrifying post snow storm. There may be a useable sidewalk tonight, but there wasn't yet this morning. It was still dark and there's at least 2 blind curves between me and the bus stop 3 blocks away. Diving into snow drifts first thing- or any time- doesn't make for the happy. I know I was early today as well, because I was concerned that if there was a sidewalk, it would take longer to slog. So, it was more like a 40 min. wait. I was rip-shit by the time the 6:50 bus arrived.
