Chatty Mc Chattersons Goes Shopping

Hey, a 5 mile walk apparently was the answer to many things! It was a great time with QE and the baby, and was more energizing than not. Also, Quedabra mini croissants are made of awesome. Still in the thrall of tiny chickens in my head, but they are growing weaker, WEAKER, I tell you!!
I was bravefoolish enough to voluntarily go to the Mall with
purple_terror and the wee terror, but 2 (3) things:
I tend to only wear 2 pair of shoes on a regular basis, and the black ones are beyond shot. So, I gave in to the madness that is Dansko. I now have a pair of classic, with back/heel, in a dark, soft brown- the kind that scuffs very well- no need to polish.
Second thing: coats. Except for my new down winter coat, all my go-to outerwear belonged to QE, came from a swap, or good will. I'm not in college anymore and I'd like a coat that I'm not ashamed to wear to work or to a nicer function. Solution: LL Bean. They have a stunning shade of purple on some of their coats. I found a hip length, hood, no velcro, with some fleece for bolstering. This should be good for those awful raw days that aren't quite below freezing. And purrrplle. Mom: you'll be proud. This is a good coat. I saw a ton of that dark magenta ones, which she gravitates towards. I already have a very light shell (turns out not at all waterproof at the moment) in that shade. I did not need another. I do have my scarf from Italy that's actually in that pink family, and it will look quite cheerful with said coat.
The cost of those purchases are probably not the best timed. Part of my brain is convinced QE'll land this job and our current money problems will evaporate over night. But, honestly, I've done almost no shopping for myself in 2 years. I feel pretty justified in 90% of my brain that it was acceptable and not at all frivolous. Puritan Work Ethic is all that's left, but it is a forgone conclusion that it's a PITA and needs to STFU. Right? Right.
Oh, Thing Three: P_T is awesome and got me a bit more Lush, because there's never a thing as too much.
Revelation of revelations from the young woman behind the counter: mix ultrabland and ocean salt together. My mind. Blown. I'd been trying to figure how to get reinterested in my languishing ultrabland, you see. It just wasn't happening. I also now have some ... um, I forget. I'm using it as lip balm because I feel like actually half my head is chapped. I am trying an experiment in which I sacrificed the core of a Burts Bees stick, stuck this goo in and we'll see if that makes for reasonable travel vessel. I have a mental block on carrying around the wee tubs you have to unscrew.
We came back in one piece and not overly grumpy to have dinner almost all done by our QE. He's been on an amazing pasta kick and outdid himself yet again.
Ah, also I have a new pastry smasher, too. The old one suffered irreparable metal fatigue. More pie dough is required.
Clearly I'm feeling better, because I'm writing like I'm jacked on caffeine, which is not the case.
I was brave
