mizarchivistSo, sometime around now-ish in the development of a kid (1 year 7 months for this kid in question), you get to see the beginning of imagination.
The remotes that were sacrificed to the toy gods are now phones. It's crazy-cute to watch Crime Fighter "talk" on the phone, which sounds like the standard filler babble of listening to someone talk and throwing in some mmhmm-yeahs.
Using the bubble wand, dipping it into the partially covered snack cup, and then pretending to blow bubbles
We've been practicing with door etiquette, too. He loves knocking on doors and windows, so I've been suggesting that you then announce yourself by saying, "Hello, it's Crime Fighter, may I come in?" He then tries to open the door immediately (not that he can yet), as opposed to waiting for permission, but still. quiet_elegance was still in bed, CF knocked very loudly and yelled in protowords: "HI DADDY!" Yesterday after fubar left for his week of training in California, he would be quite keen on knocking on the door to his room, too, which is closed. I die from teh cute.
There is a lot of things to practice, actually. Like wandering around trying to wear his dad's shoes usually only one at a time. Also, putting on hats and necklaces, and this morning tried to put on a diaper over his clothes. He continues to climb up in the rocker and practice reading. Vigorous rocking is preferred when this process starts. You know, you have to make sure the rocker still works. Figuring out the mysteries of sitting in Crime-Fighter sized chairs is worthy. Last night we actually took him out for Japanese and the chopsticks were the best thing ever. I wasn't allowed to hold on to mine very much. Holding on to 2 sets at once was required. (Also, happy day! He ate dumplings and edamame with gusto. California roll was way too complex)
I'll be keen on hearing what the latest is when I get home this evening.
