Kingdom of the Rat
It's Mozilla work week time of year, which means there's a better than zero chance the house is vacationing together- this year, it's Orlando. Last night was the wrap up celebration held at Harry Potter world. We had the run of the place entirely- just Mozilla friends & family. We arrived after 8pm, so it felt magical all by itself, being night. The catered food was not ideal for the kiddo, but
tikibar managed to work some magic and so crisis averted.
- Hogwarts express was surprisingly excellent
- Castle- rather wish there'd been any sort of line, because they've turned waiting in line into an art form- the attractions as you wend your way through the castle are amazing. The ride itself was a lot of fun and a bit terrifying, but in a good way.
- Escape from Gringotts did remind me a bit of mouse trap (my first rollercoaster experience) and makes features out of jerky stops and turns. Still- visually amazing.
- Butterbeer: bizarre- butterscotchy foam and creme soda base.
- Ollivander's.... not enough Hufflepuff wands. No surprise- But they're gorgeous. It'll be hard to pick one.
- Dragon on Gringott's- unnerving :) Blows some pretty spectacular flames.

I ended up getting McGonagale's wand. Kiddo got Hermione's. Jaime got a Death Eater's with a badass skull at the base. Of course.
The line for Hogwarts was about 10 minutes, which meant we were able to linger a bit and appreciate all the detail work.
Kiddo and I rode the Hippogriff rollercoaster. Happily I'm good with coasters so she's all set for the foreseeable future of needing supervision while on fast zoomy upsidedown rides. ;)
TOday was a quiet boring day where we had a chance to do... whatever. So art for me. TV for many others. Books and naps and almost some swimming, but it was too cold. And playing billiards a bit. More like knocking balls into pockets. :)

Relaxing days are nice. I feel guilty going places to do ... nothing. I might have to work at relaxation ;)
Also, all you on the coasters, babe. I like my feet on the ground and my stomach where it belongs.

FWIW, I've been having a tough time relaxing. I might manage today.

Yup. It's how/why we were in Hawaii 2 years ago, too. I am amused.
