That was way too fun- Arisia review
Because there'll be way too many of these...
I'd say this was probably one of the best Arisias ever for me.
I helped set up for my Preferred Party, hung out, saw LOTS of people, eventually
purple_terror and
quiet_elegance showed up in time for a Legal Seafood feast. The party was low key as usual for a Friday. I did eventually wrestle with Matt. Lots of fun, that, although the cranial collisions made for nose aliens later and really not good sleeping.
Saturday was monopolized by various prep for the Masquerade. Apparently I was a naughty kitten and neglected to tell everyone- or even most- that I was in the Kirk & Accessories sketch with Andy... and a lot of hot women. Who was I? Yeoman Rand. I got to be the most blonde of the lot, which was highly entertaining, what with me not being partucilarly blonde at all. I'll cut to the chase: WE WON BEST IN SHOW! I'm so happy for Katherine, who was the creative deus-and-a-half behind this endeavor. Pictures of me in the little red dress, boots, and wig once I remember to get the camera back from Andy.
Oh, I didn't manage to escape all impulse purchases while wandering through Dealer's Row. A guy had a totally fantastic calligraphy pen, complete with sealing wax and paraphenalia. I originally thought it'd be fun to send to Dad, but I love it so much, maybe I'll just mail him a letter ;)
Post-masquerade, I took edit caulay (sorry! :) up on his invitation to the tech party. Wow, do they do some serious collection of way top-shelf booze there. I was low-brow and sampled some more swillable, got a wicked buzz on and stumbled around with
tamidon for an hour. That was truly fun. I'd been meaning to find out what it was like to drink with her for a while, and I was glad to be proven right about it being worth-while.
Despite the Really Effing Big Blizzard,
ahf and
caulay being the professional drivers they are, chose to head back to the homestead. Thanks again, guys. We got to laugh at several DPW and cop vehicles that mired off into snowbanks.
I win the prize for clever for orchestrating the snowblower purchase. We have no front steps and for a while all to be seen of our cars thanks to drift was antenna.
I foresee some chili getting et, cocoa drunk, and Eddie Izzard getting watched.
