I spent the morning fiddling with my iPod playlists, got a ride from K. to the airport (thanks again :) and got to Ohio early and with no incident. Naturally, I finished my book on the plane, but there's a dirth here to choose from.
After a brief pause at home, Dad, Koko (the dog), and I wandered over to the MPL to see my librarian friends, particularly June. She was as exuberantly happy to see me as usual. It'd been a few years since I had seen her, so that was fun. There were a total of 3 familiar faces and the rest are new. I even got to chat with one of the new reference librarians who has a particular interest in furthering her knowledge base to include archives. I couldn't resist showing off my web page from work and the brand-spankin'-new online catalog (OPAC).
The evening plan was to go to the Cleveland Symphony Orchestra with Dad. They have been going for at least 20+ years; I've rarely gone myself but I'm no stranger to symphonic ritual. (see previous chapters re: Interlochen) The program this evening included a debut by Susan Botti called Translucence that was fantastic. I am sorry that there isn't a recording available. That was followed by a lively Rachmanninoff (Piano Concerto 1) then Bartok's Concerto for Orchestra. The Rach reminded me how much I enjoyed Shine. I'll have to rent that again soon. I'm very interested in seeing the BSO do something when they come back to town in the fall. I have even worked as an intern at their archive yet I haven't ever been to see a performance. Geeeeeez. Well, it's not too late. [Aside to Doc. T: so- you still wanna do that?]
When getting ready to go out and looking over the coat selection, I ran across my old leather bomber jacket that I left to Dad's use when I moved to College. Well, happily for me, it's still around and rarely used. It's coming home for me. Yay, I'll be an actual Browncoat! (I'm a big geek and that was a Serenity/Firefly ref for the less geeky) I'm also going to see if I can actually get my wedding dress home this time. I haven't tried it on in years. If it dun't fit, I'll have my work cut out for me. Not that I think I'll have much occasion to wear it, but I'm sure I can find one. I considered getting it shortened to knee-length and use as a cocktail dress although I think I need to confer with my costume mavens before I make such a permanent decision.
Tomorrow I go to the high school with mumsey for the morning. I think that'll be raaahther fun, really. Since she teaches art, it'll be like playtime for much of the morning. We're considering a trip to see Sith after school/before dinner. Dad has zero interest, so *shrug*- just the goils.
Saturday will be the party in the back yard, Sunday familial gathering, Monday (more) time with Aunt Leslie, Tuesday go see Dale play at the bar, come home Wednesday It is certainly my bedtime. Ma leaves at 7:30- exactly the time I usually leave, so that's about perfect.
Oh- and so far, no major freakouts regarding the horridness they've done to XY or Z landmarks. I think I've gotten to the acceptance stage. WEll, the visit is still early, so plenty of time for rage. grin

I'd love to see the BSO with you. In fact I've lived here... um...13 years and I still haven't seen them.

Have a wonderful trip!
