I can't believe I just added "five" at the end of that subject heading.
I'm currently not able to go to bed til the pies are out of the oven. Go, me, for starting a baking project when my parents are going to bed. Sheeeeeesh. But, Aunt Leslie is headed to the airport at oh-god-too-early in the morning and was mourning the fact she'd not get to have any of the pie before she left. And who are we kidding. I'm not going to go to bed early tonight. Why start now? It's going to be hell on Thursday when I go back to work. However, I'm not complaining, I'm just stating a fact.

This afternoon, Mom, Leslie, their cousin Kirk and his 4 yr. old son Jonathan and I went on a trip into Cleveland. Kirk and Jonathan live near my old haunt, Coventry (yes, that's funny) in Cleveland Heights. I was very very happy to note that all the really important shops were all still there: High Tide Rock Bottom, Sunshine, Revolution Records, Big Fun, and the Tibetan shop (whose actual name is slipping my mind). It was J's first time in Big Fun and he got an N Sync bobble head. He just likes bobble heads. We ate lunch at Tommy's and the food is just as good as I remember it being. Maybe next time I'm there, I'll be able to have a milkshake if I follow up on Keene's advice and use this stuff called lactagen (http://www.lactagen.com/home.do) I'm hopeful.
Following the Coventry run (woo, new green indian-style peasant shirt!), we drove through Lake View cemetary. I guess I wasn't goth enough as a teen, as I never really went there. It's frickin' fantastic! Mom says that it used to be an arboretum, so it's huge and filled with interesting trees and greenery and ponds. All this on the side of a hill, so all the roads through are all winding and narrow. I fully expected Buffy and the Scoobies to fall out of one of the crypts while we were wandering around. Seriously. I realize it's not a very unique thing at this point, but I'm very keen on going out there sometime in the future and doing a major picture taking fest. It would also be very neat to figure out where some of my relatives are buried, too.
Our final destination was West Side Market- somewhat disappointing 45 minutes before closing on a Monday. I was shocked to discover the entire lack of pie apples. I was irritated with Mom for just buying a whole bunch of Granny Smiths("go, daughter- shag!") but that actually was the only decent choice. Sheesh. I have gotten very used to the options usually available at Wilson Farm. *shrug!*
Dad and I opted out of another familial gathering at dinner, so mom and sibs (+ whomever else) went to the mexican restaurant and we got the ultimate in burgers at Chase's. That was one of the last things on the mental check list of things to do while here. The only other major thing (besides getting these damned tshirts silk screened) is having a spudnut or two.
My first night here we rented some dvds, including American Splendor. Well, I had no idea when I picked it out that it would be such an appropriate choice. The whole thing takes place and was shot in Cleveland. And you can tell. I doubt they needed to "retroize" many bits in order to get that 60s/70s feel. I saw it today. It still looks like that.
Mind you, I'm feeling pretty damned tired now. And I have to wait half an hour before I dare go to bed :)

Well, I can sympathize with not getting enough sleep; couldn't sleep until midnight tonight, and had to be up at 0530 to get in to breakfast (provided by the hotel) and in to work. So I'm kinda draggin' right at the moment...
