FRIDAY:
I get to the airport in plenty of time. Absolutely no lines anywhere. I read my very good book and we land at BWI sorta early- commuter train to Union Station was uneventful and I hook up with Jenn. She showed me her office (not quite downtown DC) before going home in Arlington. She has to go past the Pentagon to get home, but in the dark, it looks nondescript.
Omlettes and salad for dinner (She's a vegetarian- I used to be, too, but I gave that up not long after moving to Boston, so spending a weekend w/ a vegie was a definite shift in the brain) and we watched Sex and the City season II for a bit-

SATURDAY-
The big touristy thing I wanted to do was touring the Library of Congress- They were doing tours, so we went. The woman who walked us around was pretty useless- Jenn'd been on the tour 3 times already, so she was more of a source of useful info. The building is just gorgeous and I was a huge geek and got very bouncy about getting to see the Gutenberg Bible. Also a big geek when checking out one of the exhibits- almost as interested in the display cases as what was in them :)
We walked around the Capital Bldg. and up the Mall- the Cherry Blossom festival started that day, but no cherry blossoms yet. Poor tourists. It was a beautiful day, though. In jeans and a tshirt, I was feeling overheated!
We had a fabulous lunch at Cosi, an upscale sandwich shop- (need to figure out how to make that basil pesto chicken with sun dried tomato sauce stuff)- walked around Dupont Circle, bought a paper hat- it looks like straw, but the label says paper! I'm not much of a hat person, so I felt like I was taking a bit of a chance with it. It's pretty good, though, and helpful for keeping the sun out of my eyes. By the time we were done with our window shopping and heading towards the car it was getting on towards 3 and I was dead tired.
I am not much of a random walker. I get tired pretty quickly- always have. I did well, though- cheerful and amused throughout.
Dinner at an Indian restaurant in Arlington. It was good, but too much food- I had this lamb-rice dish that was mostly rice.
Went back for a game of trivial pursuit and a bottle of wine (now standing tradition when Jenn and I are seeing each other)- we determined we really hated the 20th anniversary cards I brought with me and moved back to Genius IV.

SUNDAY
We both slept in a bit and didn't do much til noon- The plan was to go to Georgetown. I'd been to Commander Salamander 10 years ago and they were So Cool. *sigh* time goes on and typically not so cool anymore. None of the hip and punky stores did a damn thing for me, actually. None of them were different from any of the teenybopper stores in Boston. I guess it had extra mystique back then because I lived in suburbia and just didn't see those stores... and I admit to liking the early 90s style of velvet, body suits and india skirts a hell of a lot better than revival late 70s. I guess much of what I liked 10 years ago was the 60s revival. *shrug* No surprises there. We wandered around but spent nothing excpet for the ice cream/ yogurt on the way back to the car. I really don't recall Georgetown being as gentrified Back Then. It was still fun, though.
In the course of discussion, Jenn found out I'd not seen Moulin Rouge. (Actually there's lots of things I've not gotten around to seeing- very much a product of living with two guys- I think Jenn was a bit horrified by this neglect, but hey. More to see on video later.) So, we rented MR and watched it when we got back. Not bad- very gaudy, pretty people--
Burritos for dinner and watched the Oscars. Normally I don't bother, but Jenn was keen, so we did. Interesting. Lots of peace proponents being vocal. Chicago almost made a clean sweep in all the nominations, but not quite. We didn't go to bed til after midnight.

MONDAY
UGH. I'd prepared eveything the night before and showered, so all I had to do was dress and fold bedding. Jenn naturally took longer to get ready- I think my zombie impersonation confused her, but she really never saw me much in the early AM before. I just don't like talking when I wake up. *shrug*
Made it to Union to catch the train to BWI with not much time to spare, got to BWI to find that AirTran was having Issues with their Ft. Lauderdale flight, so there was a huge wait. What should have been tops 15 min. of waiting was an hour. No problem other than irritating.
Flight fine. The woman next to me, I gather from a pre-flight call to Someone, that she was in Florida, was going to Boston, and was recently single. The woman on the other end of the phone was the ex and not happy to hear from my neighbor. Ahhh the drama of other people's lives.
Landed, headed into work (easier than going home and meant only one vacation day, not 1.5 or something)- and all of a sudden, all my polite reserve was *GONE*- Glad I'm alone for now :) I guess the strain of travel, being on company behavior, and then the delays at BWI had built up enough and needed out.
I'm feeling pretty OK now. Just tired. Almost like I'm hung over.

Or the short version: Had fun. Home now. I want a nap.
