1. I was born in Boston on April 24, 1975 sometime in the morning at the Women’s Lying In Hospital (now part of Brigham and Women’s)
2. I was conceived the summer before while my parents were on a brief vacation to Bar Harbor, Maine, where my mom’s family was for a week or so. Mom and Dad rode their bikes up there and apparently were so moved by nature that they took a rest under a tree, presumably on the way up, as she was sick the entire way home.
3. My grandmother and mother told me this story when I was a late teenager and my grandmother then gave me the pendant that Grandpa bought her that weekend. It’s still one of my favorite pieces of jewelry.
4. I’m an only child
5. My parents and I moved back to Ohio where my mom’s family was still centered in 1976 and when I finally moved out for graduate school in 1997, I moved directly back to Boston.
