It turns out that my Dirt Devil Featherlite (TM) vacuum cleaner, circa 2001, is particular about its filter. I'm now getting the correct one, but I now have 2 unopened ones that I cannot use and cannot return.
But since I don't want to use it as a planter, I thought I'd give it a try-
First one looks approximately like this and the packaging says it fits
Dirt Devil Scorpion
Bagless extra light
breeze
jaguar bagless
fetherlite bagless
vision bagless
platinum force vision
platinum force fision with sensor
and the magic words: does not fit original dirt devil vision bagless produced before 2003. (Bastards)
Second one doesn't get a picture at Dirt Devil where I bought it (clever bastards) but has part number 3860057000, which is a squat cylindrical filter that fits

We've run into that a lot. That was the main reason we got rid of our last vacuum, it was the original version of it's name but they had changed the bags three times and it was impossible to find the originals anymore.

And now we're going to go through that with with the new one, just for the filters instead, I'm sure. How about we get a mob together with torches and pitchforks and storm their buildings?
