Feel the burn, baby!
Ow ow ow ow ow ow....
Can anyone guess what I did last night (NO, not that, you sickos)-
For anyone who said "finally got your lazy ass to dance?" You would win the prize.
I know exactly why I'm sore. Jody, our instructor, had us doing warmups as usual and she pulled from the list of torturous but good for you the bit where one is on one's back, legs up, doing heel almost touches other arch, reverse, (all turned out in 1st/4th position), then out to 2nd position, repeat until abs and upper thighs give way. Extremely helpful for toning, and I'll probably try to inflict it on myself when not in class since those are the very areas I'd like to be more firm, but Ho-ly shit, my friends. OWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW.
At least I feel better after to ibu, water, breakfast with coffee...
The rest of class went relatively well for me. Ms. Kero and I did the usual go to Diesel then go to class (Thanks, Darlin', for putting up with going even though you didn't wanna) and there were only 12 other dancers, which is about right in my opinion.
Before class I was feeling very much not in the mood- I'd spent the last class, 3 weeks ago, Not Getting It (TM) and even left early because I was so irritated with not getting it. Jody's technique is to change what we do every week, except for some basic warm-up stuff that does evolve, but once you know the pattern, you can manage. Everything after that: foot work and floor work, always a new pattern.
While I've done a fair amount of dance in my life, I avoided formal training. This means that I rely mostly repetition to getting something- this whole change every week thing means frequently more challenge than I want. Daniel (friend in the class) says I've made massive improvement, however after being in this class for almost a year now, I feel like I should be farther along in my mastery.
I have 7 more classes on my pre-paid card. I guess once that's over and I still feel frustrated, I'll shop around again.
*shrug*- s'all good- more water, more drugs, and hope for spring to spring so I can bike more than once every 2 weeks
