I have been watching the buds on the trees since January. Until a few weeks ago, I spent much energy willing them not to come out yet. I don't think I've ever been aware of the foliage cycle as I have been this year.
A week ago Sunday, I ended up catalyzing some sort of cold when I spent the better part of the day dusting. I thought at first: allergies, but it kept going on and on despite my med intake. The cold symptoms are almost all gone (the cough was horrid in an unproductive irritating way) and on Monday, I instinctively remembered my Claratin first thing. Ah! The congestion gone within 2 hours. Allergy season is here for real now. I've been the model of conscientious all week now. Whatever's about to bloom is my nemesis. Hurry up and get it out there, OK??
Sunday I hope K. and I will retrieve our motorcycles from the NH winter storage. This entirely depends on the weather holding. This year will mean new tires and a big tune up asap. Mind you, I realize as soon as the bikes are down here, it *will* snow, but we have all been expecting the last huzzah. May it be sooner rather than later.
My mother will be here for Easter, arriving on Maundy Thursday -> (that means the Thurs. before Easter, y'all. FWIW, I had no idea til I worked where I do). We go visit her younger sister in Poughkeepsie starting Sunday and I return on Wednesday. If we have our act together and energy willing, I hope we'll take a trip down to NYC with my aunt. I should consult with her on that point as it would effect my return home. Easier and more casual to do so via Chinatown bus than Amtrak. Emphatically easier.
I have yet to reach a point where I dislike my birthday (which is April 24). I associate it with newly returned warmer weather, flowers, well-wishes, presents, and cake. I'll be 31 this year, which is fine. But not earth-shattering. Big years require some pageantry. The year after a landmark, not so much. My plan is to go get sushi and possibly see a movie on The Day. I know a cake will be made for me, and my Family will spoil me with presents. Happily, it seems like 1/3 of my friends also share April as a natal month, so I am able to attend a birthday party (mayhap several) and not have to bother hosting.
Although, really, I need to have more parties. I will work on that. Just not this April. Too much!
Oh, another sign of spring that I have noticed is a lot of mental house cleaning- not so much myself as such, but many of my friends. My interest in writing a lot (as you can witness above) seems reasonably related. I find this highly interesting.
Also, I need new spring shoes. Again/as usual. Think good thoughts for me, as I'm am the pickiest of creatures.
