This is a place holder post about my return to some major crafting. I've made 2 new butterfly wings in the past month, have revived my interest in necklace making, discovered I have a LOT of decorative pins, and have come up with a few new design ideas for mobiles. The next stage: photograph and publish in my LJ gallery. Then, perchance, I can find homes for my lovely creations, as having more stuff to store is really not what I'm after. Any suggestions towards the latter are welcome. While I do have enough product, IMO, for a craft fair, I'm afraid of going to those things (in that what if it totally sucks and I don't break even).
Also, I'm in the market to find a sewing-inclined person to help with a (looks to be) easy project. I have a new dress (thanks [personal profile] caulay and [personal profile] ahf !)- very much in the River Tam type that I would like to have 2 or 3 more of.  But I'm not a sewer. If someone wants to swap clay or baked/cooked goods for assistance on this, I want to make this go before it's too cold to wear this sort of thing.

Craft fairs are a huge pain in the ass and a total crapshoot. I don't blame you for not going down that road. I've pretty much stopped doing them.

The huge expectations is -really- tough. I hate busting my ass for a show and having everyone tell me how beautiful my stuff is, yet only making $75 in sales for the entire day.

Plus, all the higher-end shows I wanted to do this year didn't want me as a vendor. :-(

I'll still do Birka, because I do it with friends so it is easier and more fun, and I usually make around $300, and it's in January when I am less busy and desperate for cash.

talk to [livejournal.com profile] gothtique about having your work in her store up in Salem. i think your stuff would sell like hotcakes, especially if there was a mobile to show what can be done with bunches of them.

*grin* makes sense. i haven't gotten her my stuff yet because i suck at making a stockpile, which is what i'd need to do.

if you are at diesel later come talk to me; there's another suggestion that i don't want to put in print right now.

I'd help with the sewing if I was closer. :) While talking about River I saw Summer Glau and Alan Tudyk at Dragoncon as I walked by them. Totally thought of you. Actually thought of you when I kept having to explaing Firefly stuff to the guys I worked with. They didn't understand about Jane's hat.

Also very happy to hear your being very crafty!
