Mythbusters @ MIT
We (
purple_terror, Katherine, me) arrived at Kresge about an hour+ before the doors opened and got in line. No assigned seats beyond the section you bought into. By the time 7:30 rolled around, the atrium was entirely packed with teh geek. Despite the inevitable chaos of folks not grokking a queue, our seats were fab.
The cute nerdy girls chosen to be the interviewers were a bit nervous and I am not sure if they prepped many questions of their own to ask Jamie and Adam. It could be standing on that stage made them forget much of the prep- and Mythbusters sitting right next to them. I have no idea how I'd fare in the same situation. Despite initial awkwardness, things got rolling. The MB boys are 100% true to what is captured on camera- Adam can't sit still and can't shut up. Jamie is plodding and calm. They tell great stories and were very honored to talk to a bunch of smart kids. How 2 guys, one with just a high school diploma and the other with a degree in Russian Lit got to be the icons for experimental science is often beyond them. After a certain point, the audience was encouraged to come up and ask questions. What was a nice twist was having so many under 18 kids getting up and asking. It was a great evening. Thanks to
bryttan for hooking us up. More pics here

take 2...
(re: the on stage commentators - they were two of the primary event organizers. The lack of preparedness onstage was kind of symptomatic of the entire process. le sigh)
