A Visit to the Church of Orpheum
In a rare day off, I ended up doing not a whole lot- which was kind of nice for a change.
Some observations regarding the evening spent with
caulay and
lifecollage -
dim sum: tasty and bau-ful
company: most excellent
folk singer: knocked up in a very visible kind of way, thanks to her new producer. Also, she's very happy from Tuesday's elections. Between songs, Ani told us that after 6 years of being very angry, all of a sudden, her latest repetoire doesn't match her mood! I belive we were treated to 4 new songs, one of which was written yesterday. Way cool. I had made an educated guess* (bwahahahaaa) that this radical shift would happen, and I'm very glad to be right on this one.
songs from the past two albums (2 of my least favorite) played: many. However I have determined that I need to try again on the current new album. Possibly just mixing it in with better loved ones.
songs played that rank in my top 10: 3- Shameless, 32 Flavors, and Napoleon.
my name for what the concert should have been called on the ticket: "the drunk inappropriately loud bitch concert." It's been a long time since I've attended a concert in which a few folks make it impossible to concentrate on the performer on the stage. Between previously mentioned &*^%$ and the fuckwit whose phone kept chirping the ENTIRE concert... yeah. I don't have to go out to a big concert again for several months. I think the hellishly bad behavior (and yes it could have been worse) was brought into sharp relief after being in the venue not a month ago for the Indigo Girls and the crowd then was, to my mind, very respectful and still entirely enthusiastic. Ah well.
I could go on, but that's pretty much it and it's time to eat dinner. I may expound upon the gorgeous day and the bike ride I went on, but I just mentioned it and that was pretty much it-
*educated guess: name of album she produced in 2004.
