[profile] purple_terror and I went to the Natick Mall. Apparently they're adding on to it. I think it'll double in size when the additions are completed. Maybe more than double.
They now have a bead kiosk over on the Macy's side of the building. I ended up getting about 150 beads for 27 bucks: silver, hematite, glass... yeah. That place is EVIL. They didn't have any interesting wood or shell ones, though, IMO. There's also a Coldwater Creek in that mall. Oh. My. GOD. I want everything but the ponchos in there. p_t said that it's been years since I have squeed that hard over clothes. But dude. So awesome. The main purpose of going to that part of the world in the first place was to finally visit Mecca The Container Store. Believe it or not--- no, believe it- I didn't buy anything. They didn't have the segmented cases for finished clay product, which needs to not be more than about 1/2 an inch deep with ideally multi-sized compartments and more than one layer. shrug. I'll go back at some point to get other odds and ends. Those adorable colored boxes.... gah. Love. We had ice cream therapy at Ben & Jerry's, which is right next to the Container Store. Triple caramel chunk in a waffle cone. Mmmm. Ok. Time for more solace in West Wing.

The comedian I saw on Wednesday had a whole thing about the Container Store. He discussed wreath containers. It was my favorite joke in the entire routine. :)

What gets me about the mall expansion is the signs for luxury condos?! WTF? Who the hell wants to live in a shopping mall?

Not in, next to. It's sort of a city-style built community. You can walk out of your condo, down a hall, and you're in the mall. Shopping and dining within non-outside walking distance.

Planned community? Sorta. Only for the society folks with money though. everyone else needs to drive to get to their mcdonalds.

Natick has a serious traffic issue, and I'm all for promoting non-car methods for getting around. This isn't one of them.

I don't see much difference between living in a mall and living down the hall from one. Both are beyond my comprehension.

By the way, is there any chance that we know each other? We obviously move in the same circles and we both live across the lake from the Natick Mall (off West Plain str. in Cochicuate for me).

*waves* your profile doesn't have enough identifying info, but this is my real name so you can say if you know us :)

And if not, hey, you live close, we should get introduced!

I'm amused. Catya, I'm quite certain you've been in Diesel at the same time as moechus and you've definitely both been to parties at my place, though probably not overlapped. I'll try to point you two out to each other next I see you in proximity.

Shayde, you're on your own :)

It does seem likely :) I think I'm at Diesel on Tuesday...

That's just over the water from us (we're on the other side of Cochituate lake). We've been watching that structure grow for the last year. It's massive. Condominiums and stuff attached right to the mall, phew.

Wish they were actually upgrading the bike trail (there's a rail trail project that goes right by it. Why don't town governments look beyond the tax base and do community improvements when these hundred million dollar projects go in?)

(end political rant). And ooh, beads! :)

Bead kiosk: oh, yeah. Bead stores are *always* evil. Especially reasonably-priced ones.

Coldwater Creek: my mother has been pushing me to buy from them for years, and I get the catalogs. On the one hand, there's some really cool stuff in there. On the other hand, with my build, a lot of it looks very Jewish Matronly on me. So, it's where I intend to shop in another 10 years or so, when I *am* a Jewish Matron.

Container Store: I knew you'd like it, and I am sad that they didn't have quite what you wanted. That said, I'm not surprised you didn't buy anything in your first outing. It's the kind of place that warrants a recon mission before acquisition.

Rock on, with the retail therapy. Yay!

Yeah, it's the gorgeous colors and patterns that make me really *hate* the cuts of some of them.

Ah well. If you're built like a linebacker, you might as well play like a linebacker.
