I'm a role model! A young friend of mine asked for me particularly as a sounding board regarding coming out (bi) at school. I'm so thrilled! And impressed. I didn't figure it out til I was in late college. She's still in high school. Was I surprised by the proclamation? Really, no. And she found out like I did and like the song says: when it's you, you're the last to know: so frustrating!  I feel like this has fulfilled some level of adultness and life goal by being That Guy for someone.

yay! That's awesome. I came out at least half-a-dozen times in high school. My favorite of my H.S. identities was "lesbian, president of the gay/straight alliance, monogamously dating a boy." What I marvel at was that I heard no contradiction whatsoever in that combination.
