When we moved into DMH, we were so happy to have a real kitchen again, we would invite folk over for Sunday dinner pretty regularly. Sometime over the past year, we got out of the habit, which was unfortunate. I'm hoping that yesterday will be a jumpstart.
[livejournal.com profile] curiousvanessa joined us. She'd not been over before, so double-bonus.
Naturally, there had to be cleaning and whatnot. [livejournal.com profile] quiet_elegance took the lead on the clean project and did an amazing job. I think it's a new bathroom.
I don't know if the rest of you have a January ritual of clearing out the old financial statements. [much just deleted] I got all that cleared away and ready for the accountant. The yearly ritual of harrassing my MiL will begin once my W2 arrives. She comes from Camp Procrastinate. I come from "I'll kill you if you don't mail that fucking piece of paper" Camp.

I also took a bit of time to sort through the bathroom cabinets. Much beautification product buying has happened of late, and the shelves were a wreck. No longer!

Dinner was a roast bit of cow, mashed potatoes, peas, salad, and bread. Q_e made the best chocolate lava muffins ever. Much good conversation was had. It was a very nice evening.

The earlier part of the weekend was mostly low-key. Friday q_e and I stayed home, attempted to watch In The Mouth Of Madness but we both fell asleep half way through. It's one of his favorite suspenseful movies. The monsters in it looked like monster-extras from Buffy, which was a good visualization, since I don't like being scared. The main chick character spent most of her time being odd in her attempt to build suspense and fear. Sam Neil made me want to smoke.
Saturday was a slow start, the BEST oranges ever arrived from my grandfather's second wife. She rocks. Food for the week was procured, and a party attended.

At lunchtime, my computer decided to turn off then not want to reboot.
Then it did it again sometime before 2. It seems OK now. I did a virus scan after a live update. All of *the* most critical files are not on the C drive.

Still. UGH. Not cool. I'll put the girl down for a nap shortly and hopefully she'll behave tomorrow. No more letting her go on sleep mode at night, as the main theory since she's not infected is overheating.
