...and [livejournal.com profile] quiet_elegance has posted for himself, I feel like I'm not stealing his thunder by talking about his new job (!)

The vageries of the building world are such that one can get a nibble for a job via email or phone, but until you go there and see for yourself, you don't know if it's a job for you. So, a week and a half ago, QE got a call from (new boss) Leo and the plan was for QE to go in on Monday and see how the set up fit.
My philosophy regarding the idea of a potential new job has become not to get very attached to the idea until it's been proven that it will work, ergo, little to no mention of it til now. It's easier this way for the occasions it doesn't work out and I have to explain why that isn't happening afterall. Somehow this seems to be less of a thing for the white collar worker friends I have.

2nd Hand Observations so far:
- 10 hour work days
+ option to take Friday off... assuming they aren't working on a roof and need to close it up before it rains
+ steady hours (so far!)
- working outside year round If anyone is wondering what to get QE for presents anytime soon, gift certificates to Work n' Gear, Sears, or Lands End. Warm clothes, baby. Just sayin'.
+ boss has been in the same business for 30 years, so stable
+ only works with boss and boss's daughter's boyfriend: everyone together on the same site, therefore fewer occasions when the phone rings as it did in the old job
+ neither guy smokes
+ started off ($) about what to be expected and promise of a small increase after proving his worth.

So, into week 2. Let's hope that the rain clears soon. Also interesting to note, there's been not a word from the old job asking where he is. The jerks. There's so not any love lost there.
