[imagine the following said in a rather calm voice, with perhaps a bit of not-thrilled edge, but pretty much lacking any whine to it. Like a reporter doing the 7th or 8th take on a story that sort of fails to inspire in the first place]:
I clearly have been coughing for at least an hour straight, because by the time I was awake enough to do more than roll over, oh, about 15 minutes ago, my lungs hurt. My back hurts, belly in the punched-in-the-gut place. I thought I was done with this.
Since I'm here, have read the past half a day's worth of LJ and can't possibly try for sleep until the cough syrup hits bottom (and stays there, not feeling bouncy) and the tea's drunk, here's what House Dead Muppet has been doing.

purple_terror left for Maine on Saturday afternoon. I can imagine he's been making bread for his dad, (stollen! Not stolen- no theft involved. Just crazy Scandahoovians), has played cards with his sister, eaten chocolate chip cookies made by his ma, slept in, and so forth. He returns sometime tonight.
Dad and I had some very excellent success shopping. I had forgotten the factor of Christmas Eve morning. Particulalry on Sundays. Folks are at church, or on their way to grandmas, or just got to grandmas and are having breakfast, not out at the stores at not quite 10 am. We went to the new shopping plaza where there's LL Bean and Coldwater Creek. The clerks were all chipper, despite being there on a Sunday and on Xmas eve. Dad had been unthrilled with the notion of not having stuff to unwrap for folks. I, personally, don't care so very about that aspect. His very presence very much is more than enough. Eh- so, given we two have a tradition of 11th hour shopping, I recommend this trip. I still wont' have anything to unwrap from that adventure, but dude- I do have some CWC stuff that totally rocks. A blazer/jacket that is so very very cool. I look forward to it being the pivotal accessory of this season. I also found a Kaylee shirt. Busy? Yes. But pretty awesome, but not to be worn with previously mentioned jacket. Speaking of Firefly, I met a guy in the checkout line at LL Bean who is a fan of the movie at least. I was wearing my doctored army jacket. He asked me if I did the mods, commented on the "Can't Stop the Signal" button and I explained where it came from. He piped up with an immediate "I really liked that movie- great dialog... having River framed in that flaming... ? (swing) was great." I recommended he look for the original series again as he'd only seen one or two. I love it when that happens. Dad laughed at it, but in a my daugher is a loveable freak kind of way.
Upon returning from shopping, I made cookies- the ones with a dozen egges, 2 lbs of flour, a full pound of butter... I think I left out half the sugar, which makes it manditorily consumed with some warm beverage, but still tasty.
quiet_elegance has been running around, chillin' with folks, last minute shopping, and generally quite awesome to me and for me even when I've been rather not awesome myself. He wins the prize of awesomeness this year. He skipped the evening jaunt to visit friends. Mom Dad, Lucy and I went on the earlier side- mingled some, but all of us ended up in the library with the more laid back/quiet/introverted folk who were less interested chatter than books and knitting, or both. There was some conversation, but when it wasn't there, it didn't seem to be a big deal. I am both pleased and amused by the turn of events.
woodwardiocom and buxom_bey were both there, and were kind enough to include Mom and I on the family Christmas Eve service of Episcopal flavor. Mom grew up in the tradition and was feeling a need to sing carols and hear the old rituals performed. I was and ever will be, even if I don't attend a church UU, so not the same emotional attachment. I went and thoroughly enjoyed the whole thing. The lovely couple retuned us safely to DMH and helped demolish cookies and cocoa.
Lucy finished her first knitted object- not a scarf, as it's sort of square. She started this on the day she arrived here. Hopefully she'll like the yarn I bought her today- a brown veloury type.
Ok. I'm going to try to do the not awake thing again. And if that doesn't work, I have a book to read (thanks caulay). I can always take a nap this afternoon. It should be a quiet day
