Why not.  Via [livejournal.com profile] dreams_of_wings
10 things that make me happy today-- not an exhaustive and no need to be deep- as long as it makes me smile. Also, this is very much colored by sitting here at work.

- my parents will be here in 3 1/2 hours
- work right now is actually keeping me busy and interested
- I'm going on vacation in less than a month
- *and* I only have 8 work days scheduled in November
- chocolate. And coffee. And that [livejournal.com profile] quiet_elegance  leaves me coffee in the morning. A bit of a segue- he only left me half  a cup this morning, which I thought wouldn't be enough, but it was. Then when I got to work, there was a bit less than half a cup, but that also was sufficient in the end.
- my ongoing clay projects- I really adore the dragons I'm making and I'm even glad that I'm moving past the big chunky beads and that I'm keen on getting rid of them to lighten the load.
- audio books (my first instinct is still to say books on tape). I'm currently listening to Tale of Two Cities while I do what would otherwise be tedious archive work.
- plans to go apple picking with my parents tomorrow
- If current me told the me of two years ago how stable everything is now ($/job stuff), I'd not believe it. Perhaps I would have, but it would have been impossible to really imagine it as it is.
- 150 watt bulbs. Specifically that I have one in my office now. It's not gloomy anymore!

I managed to arrive at the airport- was just stepping off the Silver Line bus when my parents called to say they were there- one set of doors down.
An easy trip back to Harvard included chatting with some women ( or Womyn, might be appropriate here) from Seattle in for Head of the Charles, which was a fun diversion.
Pho at Le's was a hit, ice cream at Harrell's pleasing, and Harvard Book Store trip not too expensive. I'd been holding onto a gift certificate from there for too long.
'Pon returning home, some chatting, but inevitably: reading -or in Mom's case, pretending to read while actually napping. I really don't read at home as much as I used to. Then again, when I was living with my parents, I didn't have an hour and a half of commuting every day. Anyway- so far so good.

Oh!! And thanks to [livejournal.com profile] omegabeth  for announcing Wait Wait! coming to Boston! It happens to be the night before our anniversary, 3 days after the election, and 2 days before [livejournal.com profile] quiet_elegance  and I head to Cancun. Quite a week.

Anyway... yeah! Natter-natter.
