Days in the life with an almost 3 year old
"I don't want to get married."
... OK...? I can't recommend it if you don't want to anyway.
No context provided, even when prompted.
He sings constantly. He's favoring Oh My Darling Clementine lately. Sometimes to the new lyrics "Jumpa-jumpa" (dumpa-dumpa, if you are Crime Fighter).
He actually manages to stop when asked... mostly. Which is important when running on the sidewalk. My tactic is to have him go and touch a tree or fence or wall or flower. Works better than just "stop."
Extended solo play is happening a lot more for longer. Play Dough for sure is a favorite. And dried beans. And pretend with stuffed animals. This will be the baby dragon, and That will be the mama dragon... and so on. We had
fidgetmonster, her boyfriend and his kindergartener over last night. She was a perfect playmate for him: perfectly perfect with her bossiness. She was cool playing pretend, making pig noises, holding his hand when we crossed the street, and so on. I love me some bossy 5 year olds (who want to play with a little kid).
The worst of weening is over. He'll ask, just not every time it's bedtime. No, sorry- it's gone. You are not a baby anymore, kiddo.
"My birthday's comin' up soon." Yep! I think he may still want a big-big-big BIG trumpet. With cheetahs. I still do not know what this means. We haven't finished giving him presents from Christmas, so aside from a tea set and some more books, we're all set on the present side. I'm planning another visit to Beaverbrook for run around in the water for an hour or so. I've invited the majority of this school. No idea how many will actually show. However, I'm planning on several. We've shifted over from adults hanging out at a kid party to a kid-centered party. If you super-want to go, ping me and I'll share info, but I've been erring on the side of little kids-and-their-parents rather than my friends. 'k? k.
TL:DR? fun kid!
