Officially speaking,
I can now join the ranks known to ya'll as Biker Babe.
Granted, I am a far cry from being a great rider, but I survived 2 1/2 days of riding with no major upset.
I got 13 (better if you get none, or lower) on the riding half-- 21 is failing. About middle of the road in comparison to the class.
Today we covered u-turns, swerving, reviewed quick stops, and doing the 90 degree turn, straight, then 160 turn ( all 4 on test). Plus, more going around off-set cones and going over[O Brother pronounciation] ob-stac-les (not on test).
In the end I got points off going over the u-turn box line, anticipating the swerve, then being a bit slow on the 2 turns. Not bad. It's passing!!
You remember me talking about doofus yesterday? Well, doofus didn't show up til... hm. at least 9:30. We gave up on him long ago. Never did hear what his excuse was. He struck me as the "alarm didn't go off" type. Context clues indicate he's out there right now doing the last bit with the later class. Given he was such a fuckup already, I'd have not let him. However, it might have been a really good excuse today. Dunno. The rest of us weren't impressed.
Another student drama was one of the older women (the only one who popped a wheelie yesterday, afaik) zipped right into the fence leading to the road early on. She ended up leaving not long after, obviously freaked.
The final thang was the Big Guy from yesterday had some serious health issues and was in the hospital all night, so he's retaking day 3 ... later. Poor dude. He was playing the What If game a lot "what if I drop the bike, what should I do?" or "what's the part most people fail at?" dooood! Geeeeeez.
Anyway, it took forever to write all that. I'm really glad I did this, would recommend it to those who've been interested in the bike thang. Doesn't teach you everything, but it gets you on the road w/out feeling like a complete rube.
