Poor Lizard

Auuugh! My lizard has become so threadbare, he's sprouted multiple holes. My instinct is to try to save him, but I don't see how. And I don't want to throw him out- that seems so .... heartless. Snerfle.

The one in question is the one on my shoulder. I've had him for 8 years at least. Poor lizard.

...Turn him into a quilt you can snuggle with? Or a pillow? Or have a quilting friend do it for you? You keep him around, but he doesn't have to keep the beads in.

I suppose it's possible. I like this idea better than most, but he's SO threadbare. Hence the leaks. His "skin" is about 1/10th of what it once was.

scotch tape (or appropriately colored duct tape) might help mend the holes but it's probably fatal at this point.

you could empty him out (keep the 'ashes' in an urn?) and mount him on a wooden plaque? :)

Ok, that's my second favorite idea. I fear the tape idea is too red neck for me. He wouldn't look very pretty then! :( Mind you, I did wrap him in plastic wrap last night before I put him in a shoebox. He's definitely the sort of object that stuff *doesn't* cling to.

My best friend, kriz1818 did a fantastic job of patching up my childhood bear. She made him a little corduroy vest that covered the bare spots. So, I say, try patch work. Find some sort of similar fabric and patch away. He will look loved.

He'd need a full upper body garb: nose to butt. His tail seems OK. He's sort of made out of spandexy material, too, so double frustrations.

I wonder what sort of seeds he is on the inside and what sort of smell it'd make. I'm pretty sure his exterior would be narsty. Then again, I doubt burning human flesh is fun, either.

Iron-on patches? I've used them to repair dying denim before, and he'd look kind of like a guitar case that has traveled the world...
