plus and minus

+ bike ride on a warm October day: the sky was gorgeous and the leaves vibrant
+/- coming home to papyrus plant sitting on the counter (wtf? How is this planted?!)
- -severely llacerating my finger while finishing the repotting
- extra bonus: getting gravel down the garbage disposal when I spaz out and drop the pot
++ boyfriend who knows how to deal with mostly minor bloody injuries
+ no need to go to the emergency room
+ Hello Kitty bandaids
+ Extra strong ibuprofen makes the throbby thing go away
+ Friends party, seeing plenty of people including the hosts' downstairs neighbor*
- ibu wears off half way through and my energy evaporates within a few minutes, so a very rapid departure, even for me.
+ I verified this morning that the 9th year anniversary presents are leather according to one source. Score! Next year is... um- aluminum?! I think we may revisit leather. Mind you, we've never paid attention to such things in the past. Convenient that I checked this year (anniv. on Nov 7)
* Their downstairs neighbor was the first person I met when I moved to Boston, like literally. She was working at the Harvard Bookstore (doesn't now) and I think I commented that I really liked her necklace. We hung out a bit, but then lost track, like people do. Well she has lived at that house for 8 years, and it was apparently due to my posting her plea for a place to live on suspects. I'd never visited this house and didn't know that a connection was made until last night, so never ran into her for pretty much all that time. How cool is that?! Um,,, not the not running into, the other part.
