Success [teaching]
When I woke up at my usual time with the echos of an early morning dream still echoing in my head, I knew I was going to be alright. Any time my grandmother visits me, it usually is a good harbringer. And I was right.
I had 5 students, plus the CE coordinator sitting in (and chipping in from time to time, which was sort of cool- others might not feel that way, I suppose). My boss came in to help- bought the bagels and coffee and let folks in the locked-on-weekends front door. After it was over, Coordinator said that the set up really added some extra quality to the whole thing. preen :)
I had 8 concepts I was talking about, which was a bit much for a 3 hour class. With the buffery material- intros, break-out exercises, breaks, transitions- I only had about half that time to cover everything. I'll get the feedback from the coordinator soon, but I did take a quick look. Mostly rave-y, IMO, with one of the younger of the set saying I need to work on my visual presentation. Someone else thought it could be expanded. I agree on both counts. There was one technical difficulty on showing off Access, which I find telling, quite frankly :)
I'm hoping to continue to come up with new classes over the next few years. The success of this subject material makes me think I can recycle and expand some of it into the online class that I'm offering in Feb. Heehee :)
