Ways to support writers while they're on strike

First, there's the Fans4writers site, which gives updates on what's going on and what fans can do to help. I just added that to my feed, but I think it helps if you live in the Hollywood area where there's picketing.

Also United Hollywood has a fund- a dollar/box of pencils that are mailed to Moguls. You can even say which shows or writers you support particularly. The FAQ confirms that this was inspired by the Jericho/nuts campaign. They have suggested that the boxes that will be overflowing in the corporate offices be donated to non-profits and schools. Hopefully that's what they'll do.

the pencils thing reminds me of when the broccoli federation (coalition? co-op? foundation?) sent a truckload of broccoli to the white house after george sr. said publicly that he didn't like broccoli. they donated it all to local soup kitchens.
