So, [livejournal.com profile] quiet_elegance and I went out to dinner last night- He thought it might be interesting to check out the up-scale yuppy magnet restaurant in downtown Lex., Copacafe. When it opened earlier this year, I was very irritated that it showed: just another coffee shop and there were already 2 on the same block.

Last night I realized it's not so much a coffee shop but a tappas bar. Never been to one before, just watched Tony Bordain go to the ones in Portugal. Now, I don't think it was on par to the ones there, but they do have tasting menus as one of their features along with a full bar and the aforementioned coffee-ness.

q_e and I had a very good time, had some excellent conversation, and dinner was pretty tasty. I want to go back and try the more exotic variety of tasting menus they had listed. However, I have to say that dessert was not so spiff. Ohhhh well. I wonder if Finale's will open a third location out our way grin

Once home, it was about time for the new episode of Queer Eye for the Straight Guy, the show I chalk up to much of q_e's dramatic and super-awesome style changes, including the haircut. Unfortunately, watching the show makes me want to re-evaluate all my clothes, throw away most and start dolling up the house and hating our horrible, not to be replaced anytime very soon armoires/wardrobes.

In other Lexington news:

It was all in the hours they set up. I noticed they really didn't stay open past, I think 6- well, I get back home by 5:30, so if I was paying attention, I could go there before walking home. However, those who get out at 5-6 would never be able to get there. One of the local business owners purportedly tried to warn Cheese Etc.'s owner that he'd be doing 100% more business if he stayed open past dinnertime (the Italian restaurant across the street even allows folk to bring their own bottle in with them), but he wouldn't listen. Too bad. They had a great atosphere and a damned good wine selection. You know they'll never try out a place like that in downtown Lex anytime soon- tsk
