So far so awesome
33 feels not particularly different from yesterday's 32, but I knew that would be the case. I successfully acquired my birthday present from
quiet_elegance: new rollerblades! Just in time. Note to self: don't go 4 miles the night before a big skate party. Dur. :)
Thank you to all of the happy wishes - I've been inundated by lovely LJ posts, emails and phone calls this morning. You have all succeeded in making me feel happy, loved & remembered. You can't put a bow on that, but I might try later. Folks are surprised I'm at work, but hey- there's stuff to do. And if I'd not come in, I'd not have found out that....
I'm teaching in a week and a half after all!! This is the Continuing Education gig, (aka for actual, specfic money). It's helping educators use primary sources and it was offered but didn't get the registrants last fall. It's been a bit of a pain waiting this long to do it- wondering if I'd get the numbers, and I'd gotten to the point where I just wanted to cancel it and call it a day. But I got to 7 people, which was what I said I needed to make it worth my while. Now that it's a go, I'm feeling good/calm/hopeful. The CE coordinator already gave me their contact info. I've already emailed them to ask for some specifics of what they're looking for and what their work environment/experience is so I can spend the better part of next week making sure this class doth not suck for me or for them. I also warned them that their participation was sort of key in the success of the class. Yay? Sure, Yay.
In more library/work related news: I have a lead on a web design company that might be the solution for our painted-into-the corner situation. I got the go-ahead to inform my potential new minion I want to hire him. I also added a to do list to my Google docs/home institutional page, so I've been able to keep on track of what needed doing today, which would otherwise been nothing but spazz. There are now only 4 hours of work, of which 1 hour is lunch and another 45 min to an hour for the ice cream party (3 staff birthdays and 2 anniversaries).
I'd call this not only a successful birthday but a pretty successful work day, too! I win!

It was fantastic- sorry you were not well enough to come. We're hoping to get a SaugusSk8 thing together May 28. :)
