Has anyone watched the whole series?

Did anyone else notice the unbelievable sucking noise that is the final season? OK, maybe I'm impatient, but the direction and writing for the first and second episodes of season 5 is so radically different that quiet_elegance, who hasn't been watching with me, rather hearing it from the other room as I obsessively watch disk after disk while crafting. Anyway, even he noticed the writing took a nose-dive. It's a combination of:
- stupid-levels of exposition that never happened in previous intro episodes
- a hurried pace, like they need to get in all this stuff because OMG we only have 14 shots before it's done for-ev-er!
- and somehow all the characters have had lobotomies: they're not acting like them. Or the script was written by someone who wasn't paying attention to the nuances. Yet, IMBD's lists of directors and writers don't tell a tale.

I think I need to see how it ends, but it's as bad as West Wing season 5 and Buffy season 7.

I agree largely with tamidon. I often cite the last episode of 6'under as the best final episode of a fictional serial for television. It is well worth watching the last THREE Episodes to get the full flavor (and a good reminder) of why the show was BRILLIANT for it's first two episodes (and then had off and on brilliance for 3, meh 4, bleh most of 5). And the last -- really 10 minutes -- are lovely and brilliant. And that Clare's story is the last relevant thread (I'm not giving away much there) is really a lovely keystone choice for the denouement.
