Yes, this. Moreover, it's almost a sign of how popular an artist or song is. Much as a number of musicians have said that 'you haven't really made it until Weird Al parodies your songs.'

Neat, and I'll be using it as an example in the class I'm teaching. Yay!

Yup. It's a great example of how something that was a bit of cool fluff a few years ago is now part of mainstream culture, referencing back and forth between the two. I'm going to use OK, GO! and the Barenaked Ladies video, too, as some less risque choices.
