word from paradise
How could I have forgotten to bring the playing cards? Mind you, it's taken until today to miss them. I finally finished my first book and do not fear killing off the other before we leave, as it's probably 2x longer if not more.
Some highlights have included
- meeting some very nice guys -a couple- from Philadelphia. They left today, so we'll have to keep our eyes open for other younger folks, who are sort of in short supply down here.
- Chichen Itza yesterday, plus the fresh water pool. Lots of trinkets for sale. (you like lady? almost free- one american dollar)
- Visit into Cancun on Sunday to find color pencils. Success only after several inquiries. At a grocery store- but they work! I'm in awe at the foolishness of not bringing any art supplies with me, either
- lots of sketching and paper journaling. I was horrified at how much I'd gotten used to this kind of journal-keeping. It takes forevah to write and you can't rearrange your thoughts after the fact on the page. This reminder was well over-due, I suppose.
- after an initial fear of no productive beach combing for shells, I have really hit pay-dirt. 1/3 of the weight in my suitcase will be former marine life.
That's most of it, really. More later when I have my own comptuer. I've not been reading LJ at all- or looking at a newspaper or watching the news, so when I am back on Saturday, I'll ask for some recaps, please.
