There's a new bead store in Lexington Center: Sweet Beads. I talked to the manager about the possibility of putting together a how to make bead class maybe in the summer or something. Nothing right away, that's for sure. I think to do this would be hugely expensive, as it would mean doing a lot of the supply purchases ahead of time and putting kits together. I'd need to have some sort of guarantee that people would then buy the kits and take the class. I have NO idea how much I should charge for my time. Lizzie-? Notions?
In the meantime, she took a few tins and some beads to show the owner. The tins for consignment, beads to show I'm not a total hack. That'd rule if they took some. I expect nothing. If it doesn't work out, at least I tried. The little ones are priced such I think they would move. knock on wood. I'm really really glad I went online yesterday and got new business cards. The ones I do myself are hit-or-miss with the inkjet printer. This way I'll have 250, which will last a few years. Unless all of a sudden I become popular ;) gigglegigglegiggle

The owner should get payment from students in advance (so that if there are no-shows, you still get paid), and you should work out the min/max number of students. How many weeks will the class be? How will you handle bead baking?
Are the kits something you could sell on Etsy if you don't sell them at the class? Consider this as a possibility, so all your hard work and $$ do not go down the drain.

When I teach at Simmons for a 3.5 hour class, I get about $350.00, but that's "professional education" sort of thing. So, at least I have some experience teaching continuing ed., so some things- like min/max is a known quantity.
You've posed some good questions and I have no idea about most of it-- yet. :)

I might suggest that a supply list get circulated to confirmed registrants and they go to the craft store themselves to get them. That's what we did before the beginning of school every year. In any event, *if* I do put kits together, there's no question that I would get reimbursed for supplies and get a % of registration.
