Gym:
+ later bus, shorter workout, no stress at all. FTW. I just don't trust that the 1st bus of the morning will show up between now and the new year. Some workout is better than none.
o interesting: about 5 other members spotted, 2 leaving when I was arriving today. By the time I left, I was the only one
+ Danny, the owner, noticed my new earrings that I put together over the weekend, so I showed him the necklace and gave him my Etsy card. He said his wife likes stuff like that. So, we'll see. I at least planted the idea.
? I was entirely stoked that I manage to go the longest distance on the elliptical than on any other occasion on this workout sheet. There's about 3-4 different types of machines, though. If I'm on the one that changes gradient, I don't go as farther.
+ "Eunning" for 20 min. feels pretty easy now. I suspect I'll be ramping up on time a bit after next week
+ Numbers still mean nothing. I don't check that. I just know that I feel stronger and looks stronger, too. Mwahhahaa.

I must be an adult. I'm looking forward to buying socks and underwear. Dies of shame!
Context Part 1: If I am to wear my winter boots for any length of time, I need wicking socks, or I have slightly damp and therefore cold feet All. Day. This is bad. I must fix this very soon, but not before tomorrow, fer chrissakes. (Hah! Literally!)
Context Part 2: It occured to me that I can buy my utilitarian underwear without going to a box store. I always get the same kind. They sell them online. This also can wait until after tomorrow.

Dr. Horrible! The DVD was released on Friday as an Amazon exclusive. It arrived at work yesterday. R. and I - and eventually [livejournal.com profile] purple_terror went the uber-meta path and watched the musical commentary at lunch. I'm looking forward to going through the non-musical commentary and the making of features. Obviously, I highly recommend. I also need to decide what icon I want from Dr. Horrible. Bad fangirl, no biscuit.

For your entertainment: a friend of mine and I, circa 1995. Ohio University. (as usual, click to embiggen)- the tall, skinny guy in the background is the infamous, archivist-despising Ex

Ohio U 1995

I'm sorry that I no longer have that hippie dress, but it probably was worn to a rag. I still have the jacket, but it's so ragged, it tends to stay in storage. Besides, now I have my Serenity jacket.  Thanks to Miss M. (the one in the hat) for posting this. Pity she's in California, as she was always fun to hang with. We met via [livejournal.com profile] catamy713  in junior high. Speaking of which- catamy! Literally, my first friend ever- we met when we were still in diapers and still talk, although not often enough. She joined our little collective this week. Does the dance of happiness.

Lifespans of friendships...
I was talking to my waxicurist (I made up that word, because I don't remember the real one, but I like this one better)- and she had been relating to me how a friend of hers from her childhood wanted to reconnect after an absence of probably 25 years. She had no interest and the general reaction she's had so far is that she's weird for this. Her argument (not that she needs one) is that it's been forever since they were friends. A lot has changed since then and they really don't have anything in common anymore. If she had wanted to maintain a friendship, she would have.
I get that. I can also see the desire to reconnect. I mean- look at my job. I'm paid to maintain connections to the past. I'm also able and interested in maintaining a friendship that I've had my whole life... then again with catamy- she is the closest thing I have to a sister.  I've also take a great deal of enjoyment out of Facebook because it gives me a chance to find some of those people I grew up/ went to school with. They're not my best buddies, but at least I know a bit about what they're doing with the chance to chat more if the mood siezes either of us.
On the other hand, I'm learning how to Let Things Go. The friend who's now in DC that used to be a close friend- we exchange Christmas cards only. Part of me finds the circumstances of the drift irritating, but I don't spend much time or energy missing her.
Anyway... I think I've talked myself out on this one. At least for the typing of it.

I'm at work till 11:45.

I just discovered one of the things my brother wants for Giftmas, season 1 of The Wire, is sold out in Boston. *scowl* I just ordered it to be shipped to his apt.

I'm super happy because a pile of reimbursements I thought wouldn't go thru until 12/29 went through last night. Whee!

Yeah. The dialogue and characterization improves DRAMATICALLY.

ALSO. At some point you get to see Booth's half naked bits and damn he is still delicious beef noodle hearty.
